授業概要

(Course description)

The course is designed to help students to develop research design, writing, and presentation skills that are essential in the professional world and for future writing projects. The course introduces the principles of effective communication. The main modes of communication are written, verbal, and visual skills. These are based on formal rules, grammar standards, and formats. This course will prepare students to be able to publish their research in thesis dissertation, journal papers and books.

Students will gain practical experience in crafting an abstract, manuscript, and presentation and will learn how to review articles. In particular, students will learn how to develop their scientific writing skills in English.

第8回:  Constructing research paper II (Firouzeh)

第9回:  How to publish and present an academic paper (Firouzeh)

第10回: Workshop I: Discussion on problem definition (Andrew-Firouzeh)

第11 回: Workshop II: Discussion on method and evaluation

授業の進め方(How to proceed this course)

The course includes a number of writing exercises and move toward peer workshops, in which students deliver constructive criticism of one another’s work. In workshop, students will define the problem, decide methodology and evaluation, and present their outcomes.
